Remote Work as a Strategy Against Skilled Worker Shortage

Parahealth offers remote work as a strategy against skilled worker shortage>

Osnabrück. No longer just in the office, but from across Germany and around the world: The online retailer parahealth offers most of its employees location-independent work (remote work). With this approach, the Osnabrück-based company aims to meet the needs of its current and potential employees. By increasing workplace attractiveness and expanding the applicant pool, the company is countering a persistent shortage of skilled workers.

For greater flexibility – against skilled worker shortage>

"We want to break free from the outdated constraints of the working world that tie employees to the office. This gives our staff the flexibility they need in both their careers and personal lives. It means the freedom to choose where to live or even take workations," explains CEO Fernando di Matteo. A 'workation' combines work and vacation. "We are young entrepreneurs and understand firsthand how important a balanced work-life balance is. We see remote work as the working model of the future," di Matteo adds.

With the remote work option, the company is responding to a persistent shortage of skilled workers in Germany. Studies show that the concept is particularly popular among women and younger generations. "By offering this, we become more attractive to potential applicants. Neither they nor we are bound to a specific location. This allows us to reach skilled workers across Germany and beyond." Almost all current open positions at parahealth are remote-capable.

While most of the team primarily works in the office and regularly uses home office options, several employees now work from other German cities. The workation concept is also being used by staff, enabling flexible work arrangements that contribute to better work-life balance.
